Shipping Restrictions and Prohibited Items

Safety of Transport
Certain goods may be transported only under prescribed conditions and compliance with applicable laws of the destination country and the country of origin. Certain goods are prohibited from transportation by air.
No more than 9 kg of food is allowed
It is the shipper´s/recipient responsibility to comply with current government regulations or laws applicable in each country. Shipments are subject to inspection and possible delay by customs or representatives of other government authorities.
  • Pet food.
  • Ready-to-eat food products made from meat, fish, crustaceans, or mollusks.
  • Enclosures that may pose a threat to human life and health, as well as cause damage to or destruction of other postal items.
  • Counterfeit goods. These are goods that contain an imitation or copy of the badge or logo of another brand.
  • Contraband or illegal substances.
  • Lottery tickets;
  • Lock picking devices.
  • National currency (except numismatic coins and their collections), foreign currency.
  • Rough diamonds and precious metals.
  • Items of cultural or historical value.
  • Live or dead animals or insects.
  • Human remains.
  • Coral.
  • Brazilian rosewood.
  • Skin of snakes, alligators, crocodiles, stingrays and other reptiles or amphibians.
  • Natural fur, fur products.
  • Animal skins and articles made of them.
  • Sturgeon or beluga caviar.
  • Radioactive elements or products.
  • Toxic substances, mercury, acids, poisonous, corrosive substances.
  • Self-balancing boards (hoverboards).
  • Pressurized containers.
  • Oxidizer.
  • Fire extinguishers.
  • Firearms, pistols and accessories, including replicas.
  • Strikeball and paintball guns, bullets, projectiles and parts.
  • Ammunition, magazines and bayonets.
  • All types of wood, not stripped of bark, and without thermal and chemical treatment.
  • Biological agents (microorganisms, viruses, biological toxins, particles, or other infectious substances of natural or genetically modified origin that may cause infection, allergy, toxicity, or otherwise create a danger to humans, animals, or plants).
  • Alcoholic beverages, narcotics, psychotropic substances.
  • Body armor, helmets, or personal protection; articles with Kevlar or ballistic ratings;
  • Military/tactical/police shields;
  • Government, police or military uniforms, IDs and Badges (real or replica);
  • Military training equipment;
  • Military and/or dual-use flight helmets and flight jumpsuits;
  • Thermal imaging, InfraRed or other night vision devices.

Defense articles controlled under the US Munitions List as defined under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations
  • Rifle scopes, laser pointing & aiming devices for firearms;
  • Self-propelled vehicles.

  • Items containing animal products controlled under the Endangered Species Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act, or requiring a permit under CITES.
  • Any unidentifiable material, substance or chemical.
  • Tobacco products (including E-cigarettes and vaping products).
  • Medications.
Products posing a danger during international transportation may be confiscated from international shipments at the border crossing stage or at exchange transit facilities. Customs authorities have the right to confiscate items prohibited by law for international postal dispatch or those sent in violation of customs legislation in accordance with the established legislative procedures.

A key in determining whether an export license is needed from the Department of Commerce is knowing whether the item you intend to export has a specific Export Control Classification Number (ECCN). The ECCN is an alpha-numeric code, e.g., 3A001, that describes the item and indicates licensing requirements. All ECCNs are listed here:

  • Package with equipment containing less than 2 batteries or 4 cells are accepted for transport without the lithium battery mark.
  • A package containing a notebook computer may have 1 lithium-ion battery and 2 small lithium metal coin cells installed.
What is allowed
  • Defective, damaged, or recalled lithium batteries are not permitted on aircraft under any circumstances.
  • Defective or damaged Lithium Battery, enclosed within a laptop, mobile phone or other device, must be removed
  • Any radioactive, flammable, explosive, corrosive, toxic, oxidizing, infectious materials are considered dangerous.
  • Electronic equipment, perfumes and even food flavoring may be classified as Dangerous Goods.
  • The Material Safety Data Sheet or Safety Data Sheet from the manufacturer provides information to identify the content classification.
